Just been allowing myself to enjoy whatever free time I have now, not having to worry about tests or assignments...
Which reignited a spark of inspiration in me to start drawing again. So I've been churning out drawings at a much faster pace than I've been during the past few weeks. :)
I really miss drawing and having the time to draw... It's been so long since I had the pleasure of just sitting down and having ideas come out of my head and flow onto paper (or my tablet).
I also had the time to just browse online, looking at other people's illustrations. It's quite inspiring for me to see that there are people out there who have taken their talent and what they love doing and made it their career. And it reminded me of the aspirations that I had last time, wanting to do graphic design and drawing.
I miss those days. :)

I'm quite happy the midterms are OVER!
Just one day of rest, though, then I'll have to start mugging again :(

Anyway, my other blog, Skritches, finally has a tagboard, as well as some new stuff. Psych readings were on death and dying, and how people facing death go through different stages before coming to acceptance.
Soci was also about death, but they also touched on poverty, and it's really made me think about what causes poverty. I mean, it's all well and easy for us who are fairly well-off to say that education's a cure-all to the ills of poverty, but when you realise that the families themselves have alot of constraints, it really makes you wonder if it's that simple or even possible sometimes for them to break out of the poverty trap.
But anyway, I'm just really thankful that God allowed me to be born into a good family environment, and that I have the chance to even be in SMU, studying about these things.

Pastas!

Just a note to all... I've been inspired reading others' blogs (been blog-hopping), so I shall post something as well.

Was talking to Miss Lim today at the shop. She commented that although she likes music, she said that doing it as a full-time job really kills the interest. Which got me thinking about what I wanna be doing next time.

I remember Siew Lim asking me about the aspirations that I had when I was a child... I could list doctor, lawyer, artist, animal vet, singer/songwriter, psychologist, teacher, lecturer, interior designer, graphic designer.

Seems like the jobs that I really want the most (some of which are up there) are the ones that are, according to Singapore definition, not the money-making type. Which presents me with the dilemma:

"Should one take up a job because you like it, or because it's able to provide you with material wealth?"

OK, I realise that the wording for that question might be kinda biased (material wealth does sound kinda negative in my book), but seriously, if you'd asked me maybe 5 years earlier, I would've gone for the former.

Now, seeing this same question before me, I think it's really neither.

Neither??? Haha... Some of you might be confused, but lemme clarify myself.

Neither, because what's most important is that you choose a job, and you do it well for God.

Sure, you'd wanna get a job that supports you financially, and also one that appeals to your talents and interests, but in the end, it's how you do your job that's really important.

Take the example of Joseph when he was under slavery and in prison, for instance. I don't think being the prisoner in charge of all the other prisoners is a glamorous position. In fact, if I were a prisoner under Joseph's charge, I'd think that he was doing things for the warden to get such favours.

But read the text carefully, and you'll find the simple reason why Joseph was favoured by the warden.

Genesis 39
But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21 the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. 22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. 23 The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

The reason? God favoured him. Simple as that.
No bootlicking, no currying of favour. Just being faithful and true to God.

In fact, read Genesis 39-41 and note the beginning of 39 and middle of 41. You'll find the same pattern repeated throughout with Potiphar and the Pharaoh: Regardless of Joseph's circumstances, God favoured him, and blessed him and the work of his hands.

Now, Joseph could've whined about his circustances. He didn't have to work that hard under Potiphar; after all, he was already a slave with work to do. Why should be want to be saddled with more work? And when he was in prison, he could've kicked back instead of getting more work for himself. And after he had asked the cupbearer who got out of prison to mention his case before Pharaoh, the cupbearer forgot and caused Joseph to hang around in jail another 2 YEARS! If it were me, I'd definitely be bitter enough to stop working and tell God:"Look, you promised me that I'd be ruling over my brothers. And my ticket out of this hellhole went and forgot about me. What is this?!"

Well, if Joseph entertained such thoughts (which could be likely; after all, he is human), there's no evidence that he let that affect his work and his attitude towards it.

And that is something that I really respect him for. Especially after having gone through army, where the norm is to skive off and do as little work as possible.

I wish I'd have had this insight sooner; it would've changed alot of my perspective in the army.

But since that's all in the past now, I can only hope that what I learn from Joseph, I'll apply to other things that I do in life. Regardless of whether I like them or not.

Full-Time Staff Wanted!

Tempest Music Shop is looking for full-time staff to work on weekdays! So I'll try to keep it short and simple.

MTC YOUTH CAMP:
This was the 1st week of June. Think this year's camp was alot more fulfilling and easier to manage for me, especially since the numbers were reduced to a more comfortable size as compared to last camp. I was really glad to see how the church youths were stepping up to take their roles in the camp, and how they were focused on pleasing and glorifying God through the duties they had to carry out.
One thing that I learnt during the camp was to set aside time for myself to really reflect and pray. Once the day starts, I think most people would be too busy to even think about God. But I think during the camp, I realised that it was important to set aside time to talk to God and meet with him through prayer and reading of His word, cos I came to the understanding that my resources and strengths are limited, so I need to consciously ask God to help me and to give me sufficient strength and wisdom during the camp. Not to mention energy, to keep up with them. Heh.

NAVCAMP2007: JAILBREAK
One day after MTC youth camp ended, I had to prepare myself for Navcamp. This year's programme was much more different from last time. Although it was still experiential learning, they decided to make the entire camp an experience to be learnt from instead, and not just through "designated activities". It was so packed and hectic, that I fell sick the second day of the camp. Luckily, God gave me the strength to pull through for most of the camp, until the last day, when I had to leave early because of vertigo.
Being the second camp that I was helping out in, I felt more comfortable this time round, because I had a more definite role. However, I also had to watch that I wasnt being too overbearing or pushy. I was attached to advise a team, and I had to make sure that I wasn't overstepping my role.

TEMPEST
And finally, where I am now. For those of you who know Bras Basah Complex, there's a music shop called Swee Lee. And within Swee Lee, there's another space in there that's been set aside for sales of scores and music books. The place is called Tempest and that's where I'll be for most of this month.
For those of you who have nothing better to do, or who feel the desperate desire to come and see me at my workplace, my working hours are as follows: Mon to Thurs, 11am - 7.30pm. I'll be in the shop most of the time, so if you're in the area, do feel free to pop in for a bit. :)

OK, that's that for now! :)

PictureS!

OKok... The Corrs - All the Love in the World.
I know this song's pretty old. But this version is sans drums and synth beats, and it's really GOOD.

2. Bjork - Earth Intruders
Something a bit more tribal and feral. Really like the idea. I think I might go get her album; her music's actually quite good. Obtuse, maybe, but good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wioa74MsBYA

I can't embed this video. that.

I've totally lost my voice. Haha.

But, teaching has to go on as usual. I'm still amazed that I was able to teach yesterday and today, despite the fact that my voice must be really hard to listen to, not to mention really uncomfortable on the ears.

If you think by "voice loss", I'm referring to a sore throat, sorry to disappoint you. It's literally like having no voice. Even speaking to someone would be painful for both parties; for me to speak, and for the other to listen.

I was trying to pick up a call from my mom today, and despite my valiant efforts to talk normally, she ended up laughing at me over the phone. Haha.

SO, if you do see me around this weekend, don't be surprised if I don't have a single word to say.

Hopefully my voice comes back by Monday. I dreamt that I was on "So You Think You Can Dance", and that I had made it to the top eight or seven. It was elimination night, and I got voted off, but I dreamt of the part of the show where they were calling out the 3 with the lowest number of votes, and somehow I already knew that I was going to get called and cut.
Weirdest thing is, I don't even dance. Haha. Maybe that explains why I never dreamt of me dancing. :P
Or maybe I've been watching too much American Idol. Haha.
Anyway, the dream was fun while it lasted. :D

...

On a side note, why can't "The Dance Floor" use music from the actual singers? Seems like most, if not all of the tracks are re-recorded locally. If you're waiting around the MRT Station, waiting for someone around dinner time, chances are you probably got accosted by someone asking you to buy a pen from them.

Now, normally, I'd be quite happy to listen and even donate, if I find that the cause is good enough. So what's the cause of this organisation? Apparently, they're a bunch of ex-convicts that are selling pens as part of a way to make some money for their daily expenses.

This sounded OK to me at first. That's until I learnt a couple of things.

Firstly, to those that I spoke to, this is their only source of income, and they only get about 30-40 bucks a day.
Secondly and more distressingly, each pen costs 2 bucks, and their commission from the sales is only 1 dollar.

... ...

Now, maybe it's just me, but that's just plain bullying those poor ex-convicts that are trying their best to make ends meet. I mean, 50% of their earnings go back to the organisation! And, looking at their set-up (pens, clipboards with articles), I don't see why they need to take that much money from them to keep it going.

If they really wanted to help, they should try linking those ex-convicts up with companies that are willing to hire ex-convicts. To me, that's a better solution than getting them to sell pens and making themselves a general annoyance to the public.

I bought a pen from one of them a few weeks back, but I told him that I didn't think that it was the right thing for the company to do to them. And today, I got accosted by one, who was soon joined by his supervisor and another seller. Honestly, I felt like I was being heckled by them, even though I had already explained to the 1st one why I didn't want to support the cause. Luckily, my friend happened to turn up just in time, so I had an excuse to go off.

It doesn't matter if it's for a good cause; I still think it's not the right way to get them to work like this.

Rascal Flatts

If you're looking for a great country act, look no further than Rascal Flatts. Really, this trio is just good. Really good.

First time I heard them was on American Idol, when Carrie Underwood did a duet with them for their song "Bless the Broken Road". Even though they only performed part of the song, it already sounded really good.

Other songs that you might have heard from them are: The Wish, What Hurts the Most (which got alot of airplay last year), and Life is a Highway (from the Cars OST).

Unfortunately, I've only managed to find 1 place in Singapore where their 2 albums are sold: HMV@Citylink. And it doesn't help that their 1st album is $40++ and their second one is about $27, which is much more expensive than most CDs.

Bleah :(

Swimming!

Just went for a swim today after school, at Bedok Swimming School. If it's the latter, let me know when you might be going. :) Thankyew.

FYEO

OK, maybe I should stop reading other people's handphone messages. Haha.
Having to substitute a form teacher isn't an easy task; there's alot of admin work that I'm lagging in, thanks to my horrific sense of organisation. The teaching bit isn't easy either... Most of the teachers there told me to give it a month at least, to get used to the routine there. That's what I've been trying to tell myself, but in my mind, I somehow have this high expectation of myself and the classes that I'm teaching. Then I get the reality check after teaching for the day.

Haha.

Maybe I should start lowering my expectations... Start to see where I can meet them at.

Just have to keep going at it.

God, please grant me the wisdom and humility to teach...

Updates & Youtube Pt 2

Hello all!

Just a quick update... I'll be starting school this Friday. Relief teaching, I mean. Tomorrow, I'll be popping down to the school to have a quick look at the class, as well as to get briefed by the current form teacher, whom I'll be taking over.

In other news, I've got a laptop! Haha... I'm blogging from it now actually. Just to let you know, if my MSN typing is a bit weird, it's most probably cos I'm using my laptop. Still not used to the spacing of the keys on the keyboard, especially the '/" key and [enter] key. So sometimes, my sentences come out incomplete. Haha. She managed to create the entire backup for the song on her own, LIVE. You just have to see it. Really.

(P.S: Oh, and has anyone seen the trailer for the latest season of American Idol? But anyway, here goes.
I've got a MySpace.com site up and running. It'll be my online portfolio of sorts, just to put up any work that I might have previously done. I'm hoping that I can get some freelance stuff done, just so's I can get some experience. So I'd appreciate it if y'all could pop over there and just let me know what you think of it. There isn't much on it now, cos apparently I'm having problems loading my stuff onto the site, but at least the working draft of the personal logo is up for now.
I know that it'll take much more than that to start freelancing, but hey, at least it's a start. :) And if there's any "lobang" or opportunities that you hear about, lemme know ok! :P I'll be able to charge cheaper rates, haha.

To visit Cliff:Design, please point your browser to: http://www.myspace.com/cliffdesign.

2007

Well, 2006 has passed us all in the blink of an eye... In just 1 hour's time, we'll all be in 2007.

Thank God that He's allowed another year to pass. Although there were alot of things happening this year.

Worldwide, there were terrorist activities, radioactive poisoning and the hanging of a world dictator. Not to mention unnatural weather occurences (e.g: Singapore's rainy spell, Taiwan's earthquake).

For me personally, my year only started when I ORDed. Seriously. I can't really recall what happened anytime before November, when I was still in the Army. Nothing too specific anyways.

But I have to thank God for plotting my path in NS for me. As it turned out, I managed to get the "cushy" office job, despite being a perfectly healthy and fit soldier. Haha. And looking back, I still don't know if I could've survived unit life being an actual tank commander. I was kinda cheesed off at having all my training go down the drain to a large extent, but maybe God was just looking out for me, knowing that I couldn't have handled it.

And I also learned alot of useful things in the office environment that I'm sure will be applicable to me in my working life. :)

Another thing that I'm thankful for is all the opportunities that He's provided me to serve in. Organising the MTC Youth Camp, helping out in the Navcamp 06 and of course, my participation in my church's Taiwan Mission Awareness Trip. All these things have greatly stretched me spiritually, and I've discovered that doing the Lord's work is truly an enriching and satisfying experience, despite all the heartache that I might have experienced at the time. Rom 8:28 is always a good verse to remember when you're facing difficult times.

So what am I to do in 2007?
1. Get my personal design website up and running. Yes, you heard it right. Haha. I'm going to try and do some freelance work, such is the extent of my interest in graphic design. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some real experience working for clients, even if it's not for alot of money.

2. Work hard. For those of you who don't know, I'll be teaching at a Primary School. Primary 5s. Haha. Think this will really stretch me again, seeing as I'm not sure how to conduct myself, or how to really teach classes.

3. Finally get into University! Haha... I think it'll feel good to study again, after not exercising my brains academically for soooo long. Have to do some catch-up work before I enter man.

Yes, that's about all that I have on my plate for now. :) Happy 2007 all!

Eragon

Eragon is NICE... The effects are pretty good and seamless.
I just wish the story would've developed a bit faster. And looking at the way it ended, there's definitely going to be a sequel.

>>>

OK, Eragon aside, I'm back from Taiwan man!

It was quite fun, experiencing the sub 20 temperatures, which meant that I didn't sweat most of the time. Or at least I didn't feel like it.
It's also the only time I felt comfortable triple layering. My usual outfit was one long sleeved shirt, one short sleeved shirt, and my windbreaker over all that. And sometimes it was still cold.

Weather aside, it was also an interesting experience visiting all the other churches and seeing how they carried out their services, how they fellowshipped, etc. I think after this trip, I started to understand better and to feel more comfortable with the invisible body of Christ; that all Christians somehow feel bonded together in the name of Christ Jesus, even if they've never met each other before.

Also got to meet alot of kids in the Sunday Schools there! Haha... I think I'm a real sucker for kids. At least the ones over there lah, cos they're so cute and responsive. Not like Singapore kids. Think we get too jaded over here too fast. Maybe can consider kids' ministry next time. Haha.

There was alot of sightseeing done there too. We were in Taichung most of the time there, and only spent 1 day in Taipei. Some of the places that we went to included the Taiwan Cultural Museum and Botanic Gardens, hot springs, Taipei 101, and Shilin Night Market (which I visited last year, and it was nice to see that it was almost similar to what I remembered it.)

Think I'll definitely want to go back to Taiwan, if I have the chance. :)

"Merry Christmas peeps! :D"

This Blog is entering Standby Mode

Yep... Haha.

What is my life?

Yo all!

Updating again... I've hit this point where I really have to drag myself to my blog just to write something, otherwise this blog will end up like all the others. Haha.

Anyway, I've decided not to go for the NAFA part-time course in basic visual comm. Why? Cos I went down there to enquire for more details, and they couldn't give me any more than what was already in the website. When I asked if there was some lecturer or someone who I could talk to, they couldn't refer me to anyone either.

But I guess the thing that really did it was when they told me that the cert that I'd be getting doesn't really qualify me for anything... It'd be nowhere like a diploma. So I guess that the only reason I'd be taking the course is if I wanted to learn basic skills... Which I'm pretty confident that I can learn from reading up on it. So I'll give it a miss.

Anyway, from what I've been reading, seems like the most important thing that will get designers jobs is their portfolio. So if anyone has any kind of design job that they want to get done, please let me know (T-Shirts, Flyers, blahblah). I'd be more than happy to accept the job, if it's within my means, just to get more experience. Of course, getting paid wouldn't hurt either. :D

>>>

Went down to SMU on Sat for their NS matriculation talk. Haha... I kinda like the environment there. Just that my impression of those guys who were there is, well, that they're kinda high-brow, which kinda makes me feel uncomfortable. I'm not like the arty-farty kind, and I'm not used to people who're like that. Haha. But I guess I have to learn to adapt to it.

And now they tell me that NUS would be a better choice to do stuff like counselling and clinical psych. HOW?! That was one of the avenues that I wanted to explore... Ah... I'll look thru the prospectus and see if they have any scope for expansion into advertising instead. Haha.

>>>

This week marks the last week of lolling around with nothing much to do... After this week, my schedule will be as follows:
1. MTC Youth Camp (27-30Nov 06)
2. Navteens Annual Training Camp (4-8 Dec)
3. EBF Taiwan Mission Awareness Trip (9-19 Dec)

After which, I shall finally settle down and start looking for real work. Haha. Not that I haven't done any work during this period of time. Just that I've been working sorta free-lance for awhile, so it'd be good to get some sorta structure back in my life.
I'm still waiting for relief teaching to pan out. But then again, I wouldn't mind working or interning in some design firm. Haha.

And that ends my update. Phew. Later peeps!

MLM

As per requested by my friend, here's something you fellas might want to check out in your free time. I know I haven't really written anything about what's been happening to me lately, so here's a quick summary.

Well, after getting the "special artifact" AKA the pink I/C, as my friend so puts it, I've been involved with stuff from my church youth group, as well as stuff from thhe Navteens, of which I'm a part of.

Essentially, I volunteered to help out with some items in their upcoming events... T-Shirt designs, banners, games, etc... So I'm not loafing around at home doing nothing. Well, not all the time, anyway. Haha. Feels like I'm sorta working freelance, just that I'm not getting paid for it.

Other than that, I've been reading up about graphic design, one of my interests that I'm thinking of fuurther pursuing and maybe even expanding on it (like doing freelance work, or some related business). But 1st, I gotta get my basics and knowledge down, so I've been reading up on graphic design subjects, and hopefully, I'll get around to signing up for a part-time course @ NAFA. Lala.

Other than that, hmmm... Nothing much else lah.

Oh, and of course, I'm looking for a JOB. But I can only start in Jan. So if anyone has any "lobang", please feel free to let me know. Something that can sustain me with a decent pay will do. Haha.

MTC Camp Booklet Cover Page V2.0

Yo all, here's the updated version (usual rules, colour distortion applies)... Spalling error corrected. I've always had a keen interest in graphic designing, and maybe I could develop this interest into something more substantial...
But then again, I'd have to upgrade my software 1st... I'm still stuck on Photoshop 5.5, which is extremely laughable, considering that the current version of Photoshop is about 5 evolutions above that.
And my skills... Considering that I don't have any actual training or background. Maybe I should sign up for that NAFA course. It might teach me a thing or two.
I just hope that I actually have some talent or penchant for it. It would be nice to do something that you like to do as a possible future job. :)

I miss Singing.

I miss singing.
Lala.
Any takers? :P

D.R.I.V.E

I think I lack drive.
Or purpose at least.
Right now, I'm reflecting on what i managed to get done within the past week and 1/2. Must say, it was kinda interesting to be part of the production. I was acting, for those who didn't know. As a student drawing a storyboard for some powerpoint presentation. Haha... They needed someone who looked like a Sec School Student and who could draw. And I suppose I fit on both counts. :P

Some interesting things that I noted while I was in MOE, and while doing the filming:
1. They have an extremely interesting lift system. There's a keypad to choose which floor you want to go to, then the system will let you know which lift will bring you to that floor. Different lift each time; it depends on which one is free then.
2. The office doors are all locked... You need a pass to get in and out. Since I didn't have one, I had to get others to help me open the doors whenever I went to the toilet (which wasn't in the office). Felt kinda bad about that. :P
3. The cameraman had to take alot of what they called "cutaways". Think it's something like fillers that the videographers use later to piece together the whole video.

Ya, that's about all I recall from the experience. Other than that, it was sorta like what I expected lah. Shoot, cut, do some rearranging/directing, then shoot again. Haha.

Oh, and while I was on the way back from MOE, I saw the fella who was on Singapore Idol... The one who spun the hula-hoop while singing Ricky Martin's Livin' Da Vida Loca. Haha. The price of unwanted celebrity status.

Lala. Still trying to get my affairs in order and get down to doing something constructive. Haha.

As a side note...

"Here comes the Squirtle Squad!"
Haha, ain't he a cute bugger!
:P

October To-Do List

I cannot rot at home... MUAHAHAHA...

To all those reading this that are going to ORD in Nov, congrats man!

To those who are still a long way from ORDing, just hang in there, and don't count the days too much. Take it one step at a time, but don't forget to plan for your post-ORD as well. Otherwise, you might find yourself with no idea of what to do.

Oh, we had Branch Chalet/ Cohesion from Thurs to Sat. Haha.

THURSDAY
========
Went to East Coast Chalets to take over the place at about 2.30pm. I got the biggest shock of my life when I went in loh. The place is TINY! As in, really TINY! Although it's a double storey, in reality, there's only 1 bedroom, which is the whole of the small 2nd floor. As for the 1st floor, it's about 30+m² if I recall correctly. Only has the kitchen and a really small dining room. Haha. Sucky man. I basically slept there by myself till about 4 plus. Then the others started coming in. Went to try roller blading with Aaron, Derrick, Hang Loon and Sze Kiat. Managed to get myself going, although I ended up falling quiet a fair bit. But at least I could travel for about 5-10 min before falling. Just couldn't navigate the stupid humps. Ended up having just a few people on the 1st night, eating KFC and Pizza Hut, and playing cards. There were 4 survivors staying over that night: Derrick, Sze Kiat, Hang Loon and myself. Played cards until 2am. Got Hang Loon semi-drunk, cos he was blabbering alot of stupid stuff, but at least he remembered what he was talking about the next day. Haha.

FRIDAY
=======
Woke up about 9am, and did Quiet Time at the beach, which was a nice change. But it was kinda hot, and I didn't really have any peace in doing QT, cos I think I was worried about what had to be prepared for the BBQ later in the day.
When I got back to the chalet, the rest had already woke up. We walked all the way to McDonald's for breakfast, and to get some stuff for the BBQ. After that, we rented a Mahjong Table and I got to learn how to play Mahjong! Haha. Learned the basic skills of the game. At least I know how to end the game liao. Not like last time, anyhow end the game then kena scolded by the other players.
Then we went prawning in the afternoon. We were joined by LTA Jay later in the afternoon. Ended up that LTA Jay caught 4 prawns, while the rest of the 4 of us caught only 1. Haha. But the experience was quite fun. Although owing to my impatient nature, I kept changing my fishing spot after every 5 min. :P
After that, WO Teo came, and we started to organise the BBQ. After assessing what food we needed, we went out to Bedok NTUC and Giant to get more food, like prawns, crabs, drinks, and some other utensils. Then we got back, only to find that the others were already there. Haha. Anyway, they helped out alot in the cooking of the food; must really thank them for that, cos at that point of time, I was just too tired to cook the food.
After eating a bit, Aaron, Derrick and myself went out to rent skates again. Haha. Fell less times than last time, but still had problems navigating the humps. At least I managed to clear about 3 times. Haha. LTA Jay also joined us on the way back to the skate rental area.
Went back to the BBQ to find that CPT Bryan was already there. MAJ Chee and Dy Comd came later, about 10-11pm. After that, I just hung around and ate food. Had to go out to get more drinks at about 1 am plus, but other than that, we all just stayed around the chalet.
After most of the people left, I washed up and went to sleep... Cos I had Bible Study the next day, and I needed the energy to stay awake and contribute during the discussion. The rest who stayed back apparently took turns to sleep and play Mahjong after that.

SATURDAY
========
Woke up at 9 and started to clear up the rest of the stuff that hadn't been settled last night/morning. Then called Aaron to help take some of the re-usable stuff back. Went for breakfast at Mac again with the survivors (Aaron, Daniel, Adrian, Kian Chong, Ben Shih, Hang Loon, and Nicholas. :P). Then went home to dump stuff before meeting for BS.

Been having bad headaches since the weekend. And no, I did not drink any alcohol there. Haha. Maybe irregular sleeping hours ba. Anyway, I plan to catch up with my French over the next few days, cos I haven't touched the thing since July I believe.

Just have to come back on Wed to complete my clearance form. Then I'm HOME FREE! I bought their new album: this is their 1st single I believe. Or at least the 1st song in their album. If you don't know, I have a liking for country music (although some of it's quite corny, and Singapore isn't exactly brimming with country artists). But I like the way they write their lyrics and tunes for most of their songs... Most of them have more depth than some *ahem* boyband *ahem* songs. It's nice to have someplace to unwind and bitch in after work. And there's air-conditioning too. Haha...

The STW fellas are having their POP soon. Then the new specs can start coming in and taking over work from myself and my over-stressed understudy. Wahahaha... He quite poor thing lah. Seriously, it's not easy doing our own work already, and he still has to take over 2 people's job scopes. Hope he survives lah. :P

STW POP also reminds me of my own batch and my own POP... Haha, esp. since I met See Chai today at ATI, and went to sign my clearance forms with Fabian, Benjamin and Cheng Hao. Started to think about all the things that we did last time. Haha. Quite fun lah. Although it was quite sucky at the time. But alot of things are like that. You go through them and think it's sucky at the time, but looking back, now it seems really fun. Haha.

Still have to search for job lah. Think I shall really go try out relief teaching. Maybe take care of Miss Lim's shop for a few days in Nov to tide over till I can get my new job. But I really dunno what to teach lah. Engrish? Haha... Think that's the only one that I'm "qualified" to teach. But then again, still have to revise my Maths and Econs.

Lala... So relaxing. Haha. But then again, I would need the MONEY.

...
...
...

Why is everything about money?

Post 6: And October Comes A'rolling In...

Haha... It's October!

Just 1 1/2 more weeks to my leave. :D. Now I can really smell my ORD date. Wahahaha...

Still wondering what to do with my 10 months, before I enter University. Chances are, I can only pin down any job offers after mid-Dec, cos I'd be occupied from end Nov all the way till mid-Dec.

Still looking at possible job openings. Just went to try Subway at Tampines. The working environment's not bad, but then again, the pay's only so much... My friend said she could recommend me a job @ the Library, which has more stable working hours, and pays better.

I'm having second thoughts about relief teaching. The kids might just end up bullying me. Haha. Not to mention that I've clean forgotten most of what I've learnt.

Like that, then Uni how?! Uh oh... Better start brushing up on my Maths and Econs. I've been walking around the entire camp today, passing stuff to the NS Men. Hopefully, tomorrow's exercise will go smoothly, and that will be the end of it all. :D Then I can finally ORD in peace, and not in pieces.

I still feel like work keeps coming in all the time. And it just has to come all at once. Lala...

OK, that's all for today. And since there's no one around to peep over my shoulder while I'm typing now, I guess I better make use of this opportunity.

I thought this morning would be a slow, quiet day. Haha... Boy was I wrong.

I really don't like it when people keep telling me to do things for them, as if what they're asking me to do is really easy. But then again, I've realised that one of my shortcomings is that I tend to focus more on the problems that can crop up, rather than just gritting my teeth and getting it done. Sometimes, I just forget that there's a much bigger God who's watching over me, and who has already promised me that He will provide me the strength to get through whatever happens. I remember this quote that I heard a long time ago... "When your God is big, everything else seems small"... Think that's quite true. :)

Oh, I just remembered another job consideration that I had last time... Work at a hotel as a "chamberboy"! Haha... Since I was the bunk I/C during my course time, I think I've had too much experience cleaning up after messy bunkmates: pulling their bedsheets, cleaning windows, rearranging stuff... I'd make a perfect "chamberboy" man! Haha...

Wonder if there's such a post though? :P

OK, I think I shall adjourn for lunch now. Before I end up having to eat at the canteen again , for the 6th time in 7 days. Wahaha... I'm getting FAT! (In my dreams man... I'm still the same weight as when I 1st entered SGC :P)

Post 3: ErmX

Well, I'm in camp now... Waiting for time to go by, so that we can start clearing up after some big shot who's visiting our camp.
My friend's beside me as I'm typing this, and he said it's a really BIG shot. I have to agree. But then again, they're all human in the end lah. Doesn't matter what rank you are in the Army, when you're out, you're still a human, a person. You still get sick, get old, die....

Haha, I'm getting morbid here.

Yesterday was quite a bad way to start the week. I felt like I was being whacked with a pillow over and over again. Or to put it in more "army" terms, I got arrowed so much I felt like a target board. Sometimes, I think my office will "dao bi" if all the 3SGs and below decide to take a day off. Seriously, we seem to be the most hardworking bunch around here.

My friend just interrupted to say that it's not true. OK lah, I give him some credit lah. he does work quite hard. No, sorry, VERY hard, according to him.

But then again, there are alot of other branches that aren't doing as much work. And there are people who can slack off and not care about the work in their branch. Pardon me for being idealistic, but I'd like to believe in a fair distriubtion of work lah. And not having the same people do all the work. We do have our limits you know.

Haha... Bitching over. OK, now comes the nicer part of me. :D

*ANY JOBS?* I'm still open to suggestions on what to do after I ORD. Seems like the whole world wants to become a relief teacher. Haha... *sweats*. Sure, it earns a bit, but then again, I think I forgot most of my stuff. Haha... I think the kids will end up teaching me instead. Mebbe I'll work at Subway... After all, I am a long-standing parton of theirs. Haha.

Sian... Still have one more big arrow to swallow. Then I'm home FREE~! Muahahaha.... *hopefuL*

Post 2: The Update

Hello All!

Just to update you; this should be my "permanent" skin from now on. I was looking for something with a bit more colour, but in the end, this was one of the few skins that I managed to find that happened to work. And since I personally like Black/White/Grey, this skin suits me just fine, thank you. :)

Anyway, just waiting to countdown now to my ORD! Whee~... I'll be officially starting to clear my leave after my last tasking, which is the 2nd week of October. I'll still be around in camp for a few days though, just to tie up any loose ends.

As for my post-ORD plans, I guess the reality of it is now starting to sink in. It's kinda scary thinking about it now. Sorta like being dropped back down to Earth after living in an alternate universe for the past 2 years. I'm not sure I'll get used to the sudden freedom-ness of being able to control your own comings and goings, not having to account to others about what you do, and not having any aim in life. I'm starting to plan a few things that I'd like to achieve from when I clear leave, all the way up to when I enroll into University. Hopefully, I'll be able to also pin down some kinda job, so that I can continue to support myself even after I ORD and stop receiving my allowance from the SAF. :D Job offers, anyone? :P

Ok, the other things like the tagboards, links, intro pages, I'll get around to updating them soon.
